Havelock runs on a different clock than the rest of Craven County. With Cherry Point driving the housing here, a lot of the work is tied to a move-in or a move-out date, and the date is not negotiable.

That means two things from me: a realistic start date rather than an optimistic one, and a finish that does not slip. If your timeline will not work, I will tell you at the estimate rather than halfway through.

What the homes here are like

Tile work is shaped by what is under the floor, and that varies a lot across Eastern North Carolina.

Most Havelock housing is 1960s through 1990s, a mix of slab-on-grade and crawlspace, built efficiently and at volume. The bathrooms in these homes are small, which sounds easy and is not — a small bathroom is almost all cuts, corners and transitions, and the layout matters more than it does in a big one.

A lot of the older bathrooms here still have original tub surrounds with mortar beds behind them. When they come out, the framing underneath is often worse than expected. I price for what is likely and tell you immediately if it turns out to be more.

Newer construction toward Carolina Pines and the Newport line is slab, flatter, and faster to tile. The question there is usually crack isolation rather than leveling.

If you are a landlord or property manager with a turnover window, send me the dates up front — I would rather schedule around a hard deadline than discover it later.

Questions from homeowners here

Can you work around a PCS or a move-out inspection?

Yes, and I take those dates seriously. Tell me the deadline at the estimate and I will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Do you do rental and property management work?

Yes. Turnovers, repairs and floor replacements between tenants, with a straight quote per unit.

Is there a travel charge to Havelock?

No. Havelock and Cherry Point are a regular run for me.

Can you repair just a section of a tile floor?

Sometimes. Matching existing tile is the limiting factor, not the repair itself. Send a photo and I will tell you what is realistic.
